When to get a tutor
How do I know if my child needs a tutor?
If marks are dropping, homework is a struggle, or confidence is low, tutoring helps identify gaps and rebuild understanding.
What does a Maths tutor do?
I help learners strengthen understanding, practise problem-solving, and build exam skills.
How can tutoring improve grades?
Focused, personalised lessons target the toughest areas, build confidence, and teach exam strategies.
Why one-on-one instead of group lessons?
One-on-one gives individual attention, immediate feedback, and fewer distractions, leading to faster progress.
Format & availability
Do you offer online lessons?
Yes. Online tutoring is available anywhere in South Africa, alongside in-person lessons in Witbank.
What if my child is shy or afraid to ask questions?
One-on-one sessions create a safe, encouraging space where learners feel comfortable asking anything.
How many hours per week are recommended?
Most learners benefit from 1–1.5 hours per week, depending on goals and exam timelines.
Process & approach
How does the first session work?
The first session includes a short diagnostic to see strengths and gaps, followed by feedback and a lesson plan.
How do you decide what my child should focus on?
I use the diagnostic, school reports, and parent input to prioritise topics.
Do you give homework?
Sometimes. I set short, focused practice when extra reinforcement is needed.
Will I receive feedback after each session?
Yes, on request. I can send short notes highlighting progress and any topics to watch.
How is progress tracked?
Through ongoing practice checks and lesson notes so you can see steady improvement.
Do you follow the South African CAPS curriculum?
Yes. All lessons are CAPS-aligned, with support for IEB where needed.
How often should my child attend?
Most learners do well with one lesson a week. Twice a week helps before exams or if extra support is needed.
